Dave Kosanke
Brewer
Concordia Brewery

Dave KosankeOne of the two brewers at the Concordia Brewery on the Kennedy School property, Dave Kosanke is as comfortable brewing at that property as if working from home. The Kennedy School is where Dave had his first McMenamins experience; playing a basketball game in the community gym. He started his tenure at Kennedy School in 2001 as a bartender. He made the transition to brewing in 2012 by training and brewing at Edgefield, and returned to his home location in July 2013.

"Everything in moderation, including moderation" – Oscar Wilde. This mentality is a guiding point to Dave's brewing style. Less is more in his opinion. Belgian beers are his favorite style, both drinking and brewing. He enjoys the fruitiness and "roll of the dice" factor that Belgian yeast creates. Last winter at Edgefield, he worked on a series of lagers. The resulting beers he felt were "fantastic."

Always aiming to please, Dave finds true enjoyment when people enjoy his creations. He finds inspiration in helping non-beer drinkers develop a taste for something they may not have normally tried or discovered on their own. With so many styles and beers available, he believes there is a beer for every palate.

Outside of work, most of his free time is filled with bike racing and bike touring. He is also an avid camper and hiker.
