Arthur Price
Distiller
Cornelius Pass Distillery

Arthur PriceArthur is a distiller at Cornelius Pass Roadhouse Distillery. He worked at McMenamins Raleigh Hills, Greenway and Cornelius Pass Roadhouse locations as a pubster and bartender before his move to distilling. Prior to working at McMenamins, he was a jack of all trades. He held jobs ranging from light bulb salesman to golf club assembler to reading glass duster. When not distilling he is making his own beer and wine at home, or watching movies and cooking food.

“An American monkey, after getting drunk on brandy, would never touch it again, and thus is much wiser than most men.” – Charles Darwin

Arthur has high regard for White Owl, an unaged wheat whiskey. It was the first spirit the distillery bottled, and Arthur was able to be a part of the process from start to finish. He enjoys distilling different grape varietals on their alembic still. The varying aromas from different grapes captivate him and turn his work into more than a job. He suggests to future distillers to do the same; make it a hobby and apply for every position in the field you want to enter.

Advice Arthur received while learning his trade is simple: It's a marathon, not a sprint. He enjoys learning about something he never knew existed and takes the time to learn it right. If you get the opportunity to follow Arthur into the world of professional distilling, he has one important piece of advice: Never let anyone borrow your hand truck.
