West Linn Brewery

Established: November 1992
2014 Brewery Production: 144 batches • 1714.50 kegs • 212,598 pints

McMenamins West Linn brewpub opened its doors in 1992, not a stone's throw (if you have a really, really strong arm) from the banks of the mighty Willamette. It has since become most famous as the birthplace of one of our signature brews, Sunflower IPA. This golden-hued nectar is one of only four McMenamins beers that is sold year round in 22-ounce bottles, and remains a huge seller to this day.

As it is told, the Sunflower IPA was thus dubbed by former West Linn pub manager James Newport as he was eyeballing the giant yellow flowers guarding the pub's back entrance. The first batch was quickly penciled out and cooked up by house brewer Rob Vallance in the summer of 1995.  And it was good.  So they made it again.  And so it goes...

Today West Linn's brewery is ably manned by Jacob Willson.  Jacob's beers can be enjoyed not only in house at West Linn, but can also be regularly sampled at Oregon City, Sunnyside and Mall 205 pubs.
